BRISTOL, R.I. -- Attackman Dave Hurley '09 (Hanover, Mass.) had four goals and four assists as the Roger Williams University men's lacrosse team snapped its four-game losing streak with a 14-3 The Commonwealth Coast Conference win over the University of New England on Wednesday afternoon.
The Hawks registered the first six goals of the match--including three in the final 1:11 of the first period--to take control. Dan Leyden '09 (Northfield, Mass.) got the Nor'easters into the scoring column with 2:10 remaining before halftime, and the game would go to the half with Roger Williams leading, 6-1.
RWU (2-4, 2-0 TCCC) would put things away by outscoring UNE 7-1 in the third period. Hurley, Beaver Barone '09 (Weymouth, Mass.) and Joe Healy '09 (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) each scored twice during the barrage.
Packy Markum '09 (Cathogue, N.Y.) finished with three goals and one assist for the winners, who led in shots (52-29), ground balls (66-40) and face-offs won (13-8).
Leyden added a second-half goal for the Nor'easters to finish with a pair. Chad DeLuca '11 (Mashpee, Mass.) added UNE's other score. Starting goalie Andy Briggs '09 (Scituate, R.I.) had 22 saves in 54 minutes of playing time.
The Nor'easters (2-5, 0-2) will be seeking their first TCCC win Saturday when they face Curry College in a road match starting at 3:00 p.m.
