Ashley MacDonald passed assistant coach Ruth Ness for No. 1 on UNE's career goal-scoring list

WELLINGTON, Fla. -- Ashley MacDonald '08 (Billerica, Mass.) scored six times to become the University of New England's all-time leading goal scorer, and the Nor'easters cruised to a 17-8 victory over Alfred University of New York in a college women's lacrosse match Thursday evening.
MacDonald's match-high goal output of six gives her 116 for her career, eclipsing the previous mark (115) of current UNE assistant coach Ruth Ness '05. MacDonald is also tops in career assists (57) and total points (173).
Kaitlyn Hall '09 (West Lebanon, N.H.) supported with three goals and two assists, while Ginny Lee '10 (York, Maine) scored three times.
The Nor'easters, who led 9-4 at the half, held advantages in shots (34-20) and ground balls (28-22). Goalies Tara Geraghty '11 (Barrington, R.I.) and Jackie Price '10 (Billerica, Mass.) split time in goal and combined to stop nine shots.
Michelle Adams '11 (Horseheads, N.Y.) had three goals and one assist to pace Alfred. Elyse Caldwell '11 (Endwell, N.Y.) finished with a pair of scores. Kate Baughman '11 (Rush, N.Y.) came up with six saves in goal.
UNE (1-1) concludes its trip Friday when it plays Bridgewater State College at 7:30 p.m. The Nor'easters are scheduled to play their home-opener Tuesday (March 18) versus St. Joseph's College.
