WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Andy Katz '09 (Madison, Conn.) and Peter Harvey '11 (Louisville, Ky.) scored three goals apiece to lead the Rollins College Tars to a 10-8 men's lacrosse victory over the University of New England Nor'easters Tuesday afternoon at Showalter Field.
Trailing 4-3 at the half, the Tars found themselves down by two after Chad DeLuca '11 (Mashpee, Mass.) scored 4:16 into the period. Rollins would resond by scoring four consecutive goals--two apiece by Katz and Harvey--to take a 7-5 lead.
The Nor'easters came right back to start the fourth when Bobby Labbe '09 (Lewiston, Maine) and Jon Ebert '08 (Auburn, N.H.) went back-to-back to tie the match at 7.
After Rollins' Jay McDermott '09 (Longport, N.J.) and UNE's Steve Smith '11 (Walpole, Mass.) exchanged goals, Harvey and Katz once again came up big for the Tars, scoring at 7:15 and 3:09, respectively, to secure the win.
Labbe finished with two goals for the Nor'easters, while Smith added three points (1 goals, 2 assists).
In goal, Zach Cole '11 (Rumford, R.I.) made 17 saves for earn the win for Rollins (2-5). Andy Briggs '09 (Scituate, R.I.) came up with 11 stops for the Nor'easters (1-2).
UNE returns to Maine tomorrow and will open up The Commonwealth Coast Conference play Saturday (March 15) when it faces Gordon College at 1:00 p.m.
