BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Led by a balanced team effort, the University of New England Nor'easters closed their regular season by downing the Assumption College Greyhounds, 179-83, in a college women's swim meet Friday evening at the Campus Center.
The Nor'easters wrap up their regular season with a program-record 11 wins and will next compete Feb. 15-17 at the New England Championships hosted by the UMass Dartmouth.
Erica Johnson '09 (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), Ali Wagner '09 (Monrovia, Calif.), Alison Leopard '10 (Bloomington, Ill.) and Anna Hecker '10 (Keene, N.H.) each won a pair of races to lead UNE. All four were also part of winning relay teams. Devan Gilman '11 (Rochester, N.H.) and Melissa Campbell '09 (Reading, Mass.) each picked up an individual victory and relay win to contribute to the Nor'easters' team score of 179.
For Assumption, Alexandra Gagne '08 (Stonington, Conn.) captured the 200-yard individual medley and Katherine Janosko '09 (Norfolk, Mass.) took first place in the 50-yard freestyle.
