Nor'easters finish 11th at New England Championship

Ali Wagner put the finishing touches on a brilliant season, placing sixth or better in three different events

Keene State College separates itself from Bentley College to claim the 2008 title

DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The University of New England women's swim team totaled 271 points to place 11th out of 21 teams at the three-day New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championship hosted by the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

Leading by just 12 points heading into Sunday's final day of competition, Keene State College utilized a strong performance to hold off Bentley College for the team championship.  The Owls finished with an aggregate score of 982; Bentley posted 900.

Ali Wagner '09 (Monrovia, Calif.) was the Nor'easters' top performer, placing sixth or higher in three different events.  She was fourth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.16), fifth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:21.11), and sixth in the 50-yard fly (28.32)

Classmate Erica Johnson '09 (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) had three Top 10 performances, including a fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (26.15), seventh in the 100-yard freestyle (56.79), and ninth in the 200-yard free (2:03.97).

The event concluded an outstanding season for the Nor'easters, who posted an 11-3 record in head-to-head competition.
