WESTON, Mass. -- The University of New England women's swim team rang up a score of 748 to come away with an impressive victory at the Regis College Invitational held Friday and Saturday.
With no diving team, the Nor'easters came into Saturday's swim portion of the event trailing Westfield State College by 112 points. UNE quickly overcame that deficit and ended up besting second-place Westfield by 27 points.
Senior Ali Wagner and first-year Sara Shea shared Swimmer of the Meet honors with Lindsay Schornborn of Mount Holyoke College. Wagner took victory in both the 50-yard butterfly and 100-yard fly. Shea was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke--eclipsing her own school record--and 100-yard individual medley.
Erica Johnson, Lindsay Baldini and Lizzie Wareham each picked up an individual win and were part of the Nor'easters' winning 200-yard freestyle relay entry.
UNE opens its home schedule next Saturday (Nov. 22) when Husson University comes to the Campus Center for a 1:00 p.m. start.
