Veiga's all-conference showing leads UNE to third place

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Behind a fourth-place finish by sophomore Matt Veiga, the University of New England men's cross country team came in third at the 2008 The Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship hosted by Western New England College.

Roger Wiliams University (30) edged Gordon College (34) to take the team title.  The Nor'easters totaled 100 points in third place.

Veiga worked his way through the eight-kilometer course in a time of 26:58 to earn all-conference accolades for the second consecutive season.

Bosco Oringa (22nd - 28:53) and Josh Grenier (23rd - 28:57) were among the top 25 runners.  

Kevin Clark of Roger Williams was the individual champion, earning him TCCC Runner of the Year honors.
