BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Senior forward Mollie Sweeney (South Hamilton, Mass.) scored off a penalty corner with no time remaining to lift fifth-seeded Gordon College to a 3-2 come-from-behind win over fourth-seeded University of New England in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament quarterfinal game.

With the score tied at 2, the Fighting Scots were awarded a penalty corner as regulation time expired.  Gordon worked the ball around for a shot, and Sweeney--positioned at the left post--controlled the rebound and pushed the ball into the back of the cage.

Gordon had evened up the match with 8:44 remaining on the clock when a scramble in front of the cage led to an Ariadni Niavradaki (Hania, Crete, Greece) goal assisted by Sweeney.

The Nor'easters opened the scoring 9:32 into the contest when senior Nicole Mace (Readfield, Maine) converted a long pass from junior Taryn Flagg (Livermore Falls, Maine).

Gordon would tie things up just over seven minutes later as Sweeney tallied her first goal of the game off an assist from senior Abigail Walker (Portland, Maine).

UNE regained the lead at the 50:17 mark when first-year Brianna Tupper (Winthrop, Maine) sent a cross in from the right corner and Flagg blasted it home.

Gordon (11-8) received seven saves from senior Chyanne Wilson (Pearl River, N.Y.).  The Fighting Scots will play top-seeded Endicott College in the conference tournament semifinals on Wednesday.

Sophomore goalie Ayla Nelson (Auburn, Mass.) was credited with seven saves for the Nor'easters, who finish the season with an overall record of 7-9.
