HENNIKER, N.H. – New England College's Jodie Dresser (Keene, N.H.) netted two goals and picked up an assist to lead the Pilgrims past the University of New England Nor'easters 4-0 Tuesday afternoon in a college field hockey game.
With the win the Pilgrims improve to 7-4 on the season and 2-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) play. The loss drops the Nor'easters to 4-5 overall and evens their TCCC record at 2-2.
NEC wouldn't waste much time as sophomore forward Marissa Ayotte (Feeding Hills, Mass.) would net her team-high tenth goal of the season off a nice pass from Elise Luccarelli (Holmdel, N.J.) just 3:34 into the opening half. The Pilgrims would extend their lead to 2-0 as Heather DiNapoli (Concord, N.H.) would flick in a pass from Dresser at the 20:05 mark. The Nor'easters would have opportunities in the first half being out shot just 9-6 but Pilgrim keeper Mary Roux (Auburn, Mass.) would come up with six first half saves keeping UNE off the board.
NEC's Jodie Dresser would give the Pilgrims some breathing room early in the second half as she would score off a pass from Ayotte just over six minutes in putting the Pilgrims up 3-0. Dresser would tack on an unassisted goal, her eighth of the season, late in the second half as the Pilgrims would go on to capture the 4-0 victory.
Picking up the win in net for NEC was Roux who finished with 12 saves. In goal for UNE was Ayla Nelson (Auburn, Mass.) who finished with seven saves.
