PAXTON, Mass. -- Senior forward
Kim Anderson (Bowdoin, Maine) scored a career-high three goals to help the University of New England Nor'easters storm past Anna Maria College, 6-0, in The Commonwealth Coast Conference field hockey action Saturday.
UNE, which has outscored its opponents 14-0 over the last two contests, evens its overall mark at 4-4 and improves to 2-1 in conference play. The Amcats are 1-9 overall, 0-3 in league play.
The Nor'easters were unable to convert early but finally worked their way into the scoring column when
Michelle Oswald (Jay, Maine) knocked home a rebound to give UNE a 1-0 just before the 15:00 mark.
Anderson got her hat trick started eight minutes later, and like Oswald, deposited a rebound into the back of the cage to create a 2-0 advantage that the Nor'easters would take into halftime.
UNE scored four more times in the second half to win going away.
Michaela Franey (York, Maine) and Brianna Tupper (Winthrop, Maine) each scored once. Anderson completed her hat trick with her second goal of the frame at 65:00.
Sophomore
Ayla Nelson (Auburn, Mass.) turned aside three shots to record her second consecutive shutout for the Nor'easters, who play a key TCCC game at New England College on Tuesday (3:30 p.m.).
