BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Ashley Nardone scored two second half goals to lead Bridgewater State College past the University of New England, 2-1, in non-conference field hockey action Wednesday afternoon.
The Bears improved to 7-9 with the win, while the Nor'easters fall to 7-8 overall.
After a scoreless first half, UNE took the lead just 1:23 into the second period when Michelle Oswald scored off a penalty corner.
Nardone scored 11 minutes later in the 48th minute off a pass from Jenny Jackson to tie the score, and again in the 58th minute from Stephanie Barry and Kelly Duchemin to give the Bears the advantage.
Chelsea Bracchi turned away eight shots in the second half and 10 for the game to earn the win for Bridgewater State, which plays Plymouth State University on Saturday.
Ayla Nelson recorded a pair of saves for the Nor'easters, who host Gordon College on Saturday in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament opening-round game beginning at noon.
