BEVERLY, Mass. -- First-year Anna Giannoni scored a pair of goals to lead the Endicott College field hockey team to a 3-1 The Commonwealth Coast Conference win over the University of New England on Saturday afternoon.

After the two teams played a scoreless first half, Giannoni converted a penalty stroke 4:17 into the second half to give the Gulls a 1-0 advantage.

Giannoni would provide much-needed insurance at 56:18 when she notched an unassisted goal, her team-leading 14th tally of the season.

The Nor'easters sliced the deficit in half eight minutes later when junior Taryn Flagg put home her 10th goal of the season, but Endicott responded less than a minute later when senior Jennifer Beech scored on a scramble in front of the goal mouth.

The Gulls (12-3, 5-0 TCCC) held a 23-10 advantage in shots.  Senior goalkeeper Chelsea DeFeo came up with seven saves in the win.

Ayla Nelson had 11 saves for the Nor'easters, who host the University of Maine Farmington for a non-conference match Tuesday (4:00 p.m.).
