BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Showing no ill signs of its nearly one-month layoff, the University of New England women's swim team upped its record to 7-1 with a decisive 147-81 win over Saint Joseph's College Monday evening at the Campus Center.
Erica Johnson '09 (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) was the top point-getter for the Nor'easters, totaling 27 points with three victories. She captured the 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.
Ali Wagner '09 (Monrovia, Calif) and Alison Leopard '10 (Bloomington, Ill.) won two races apiece to help UNE's cause. Wagner took first in the 50 and 100-yard butterfly, while Leopard took down all challengers in the 50-yard back and 500-yard free.
St. Joe's Ashton Piers '09 (Falmouth, Maine) totaled 27 points, earning wins in the 50-yard breaststroke, 100-yard breasstroke and 100-yard individual medley.
The Nor'easters return to the pool Saturday when they head to Lewiston for a tri-meet with Bates College and Norwich University. Start time is 1:00 p.m.
The Monks (2-2) travel to Bangor that same day for a 12:00 p.m. meet at Husson College.
