NEWPORT, R.I. – Whitney Bushee '08 (Duxbury, Mass.) scored three times – including her school-record tying 11th game-winning goal – to lead Salve Regina University to a 4-1 victory over the University of New England in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action Wednesday.

UNE (3-4, 2-1 TCCC) took an early 1-0 lead when Nicole Mace '09 (JR/Readfield, Maine) scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season just 8:32 into the game. Bushee tied the score for Salve Regina (4-3, 1-0 TCCC) by converting a penalty stroke in the 21st minute. Bushee then scored the game-winning goal just before the break, finishing with an assist from Toni Pucillo '10 (North Easton, Mass.) in the 33rd minute. The goal - which tied Bushee with Kim Combis for most game-winning scores in school history – was also the 50th of her career.

The Seahawks opened with a quick goal in the second half, as Caroline Galligan '08 (West Newbury, Mass.) scored at 37:02. Bushee capped the scoring with a goal at 51:55 that was assisted by Brittany Lopes '11 (Lexington, Mass.).

Seahawk goalie Devin Eppley '10 (Darien, Conn.) made 17 saves for the win, including several stops on Lisa Baillargeon '08 (Berlin, N.H.). Baillargeon led the Nor'easters with seven shots, and created a lot of pressure on net in the first half. On the defensive end, Nor'easter goalies Tanya Callan '08 (Brick, N.J.) and Ayla Nelson '11 (Auburn, Mass.) combined to make 12 saves.
