BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Lexi Bohonnon '10 (Madison, Conn.) scored off a corner kick in the 77th minute, giving Colby College a 1-0 non-conference women's soccer victory over the University of New England under the lights Tuesday evening.
The win stretches the Mules' unbeaten string to three matches. Colby now stands at 3-2-1. The Nor'easters drop their fourth in their last five to fall to 2-5.
Bohonnon's goal would come after Kate McCabe '08 (Watertown, Conn.) delivered a long corner kick from the right-hand side. Lauren Goethals '08 (Needham, Mass.) came up with the ball and found Bohonnon, who lifted a shot to the upper left-hand corner of the net for her first tally of the season.
The Mules would have control of play for much of the evening, taking a decided advantage in shots (18-6) and corner kicks (15-0). Loni Pisani '11 (Kanata, Canada) was called upon to make a pair of saves in recording her third shutout.
Leigh Engel '10 (Richmondville, N.Y.) stopped six shots for the Nor'easters, who travel to Gordon College for a The Commonwealth Coast Conference match on Thursday.
Colby heads to Middlebury, Vt. on Saturday for a NESCAC tilt with Middlebury College.
