NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.- Forward Aidan Blair '10 (Worcester, Mass.) scored twice and goalkeeper Liz Fitzgerald '08 (Danvers, Mass.) made nine saves as the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth field hockey team won for the first time this season, defeating the visiting University of New England, 2-1, in a non-conference match at Cressy Field Tuesday afternoon.

Blair converted a pass from forward Rebecca Stephens '09 (North Andover, Mass.) to give the Corsairs their first lead of the season, 1-0, just 3:38 into the contest. Lisa Baillargeon '08 (Berlin, N.H.) drove home the rebound of shot by Amy Williams '08 (Bridgewater, N.H.) at 8:50 to tie the game, but Blair capped a long solo run with a shot past Nor'easter goalkeeper Tanya Callan '08 (Brick, N.J.) to put UMass Dartmouth ahead to stay at 14:23.

The Corsairs out shot UNE, 24-13. Callan made 10 stops for the Nor'easters.

UMass Dartmouth improved to 1-4 with the victory, while New England fell to 2-3 with the defeat. The Corsairs will return to action when they visit MIT Thursday evening, while the Nor'easters will host Western New England Saturday afternoon.
