Page, Leahy record nine kills each for Bowdoin

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Amanda Leahy '08 (Abington, Mass.) and Gillian Page '10 (Mercer Island, Wash.) had nine kills apiece to help Bowdoin College cruise past the University of New England, 3-0, in non-conference women's volleyball action Wednesday evening at the Campus Center.

The Polar Bears (3-2) utilized game scores of 30-20, 30-26, 30-13 to claim their third consecutive victory.  UNE (0-7) saw its nine-match home win streak come to an end.

Bowdoin would take advantage of seven Nor'easter serve-receive errors in the opening game to seize control.  Jenna Diggs '10 (La Jolla, Calif.) handed out 20 assists and was credited with four service aces for the winners.

Alex Toregas '08 (Chevy Chase, Md.) led the UNE attack with nine kills, while Claire Varner '10 (Breckenridge, Mich.) added eight to go with a team-high nine digs.  Josie Raphaelito '09 (Pine Hill, N.M.) came off the bench to play a solid match, recording 12 assists, five digs and a pair of block assists.

Bowdoin will open its conference schedule Friday when it plays Connecticut College.  The Nor'easters host Salve Regina in their TCCC opener Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
