Wagner leads UNE to 2nd-place finish at TCCC meet

BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Roger Williams University Hawks women's swim team posted a team score of 914.5 to win The Commonwealth Coast Conference Invitational on Saturday.  The event featured six teams.

Led by four individual victories from Ali Wagner '09 (Monrovia, Calif.), the University of New England placed second with a score of 659.  The Nor'easters were followed by Colby-Sawyer College (473), Western New England College (328), Gordon College (271) and Regis College (183.5).

Wagner took first-place honors in the 400-yard individual medley (5:07.54), 200-yard individual medley (2:25.17), 200-yard butterfly (2:26.07) and 100-yard butterfly (1:04.28).  She also teamed with Alison Leopard '10 (Bloomington, Ill.), Morgan Lawless '10 (Kirkville, N.Y.) and Erica Johnson '09 (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) to win the 400-yard medley relay.

Leopard and Johnson each won an individual race.  Leopard recorded a time of 5:38.96 to claim victory in the 500-yard freestyle, while Johnson was first in the 100-yard freestyle (28.06).

The Nor'easters are now idle for nearly a month.  They return to the pool Jan. 7 when they host Saint Joseph's College.
