BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England swim team upped its record to 6-1 by taking victories over The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponents Colby-Sawyer College and Western New England College by identical scores of 70-51 Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center.

The Nor'easters, who dropped a dual meet at Colby College in their last action (Nov. 20), improve to 6-1, which marks the best start in the history of the program.  Colby-Sawyer edged Western New England, 64-58, to complete the tri-meet.  By virtue of their split, the Chargers are now 3-3, while the Golden Bears stand at 2-4.

The winners were once again paced by the junior tandem of #Ali Wagner# '09 (Monrovia, Calif.) and #Erica Johnson# '09 (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.).  Wagner took victory in the 50-yard fly (29.34) and the 100-yard fly (1:03.59), and swam a leg of the Nor'easters' winning 200-yard medley relay team.  Wagner was first in the 50-yard freestyle (26.84), as well as the 200-yard free (2:08.98).

Western New England received strong performances from Krista Goulet '10 (Saco, Maine) and Cori Eggert '08 (Denville, N.J.), who each won a pair of races and were part of the Golden Bears' first-place 200-yard freestyle entry.

The Chargers showed strong balance to earn a split on the afternoon.  Their lone winner was Danielle Bowen '10 (Litchfield, N.H.), who took home top honors in the 100-yard individual medley (1:08.08).

All three squads return to action next Saturday (Dec. 8) at The Commonwealth Coast Conference Invitational hosted by Roger Williams University .  Start time is 9:00 a.m.
