UNE Men's XC Impresses at ECAC Championship

Placing a pair of runners in the Top 100, UNE recorded a very impressive 13th place finish at the ECAC's

Nor'easters finish 13th in 37-team field

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The University of New England men's cross country team ran to a 13th place finish Saturday at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship hosted by Williams College.

The Nor'easters were the highest finisher among The Commonwealth Coast Conference teams, and also beat traditional powers Colby College and Springfield College.

TCCC Rookie of the Year Matt Veiga placed 21st overall with an impressive time of 27:17 over the 8,000-meter loop.  Josh Havelin '11 (Seneca Falls, N.Y.) also cracked the Top 100 with a time of 28:28, good for 79th place.

Sam Powell '08 (China, Maine), Dan Kelleher '11 (Norton, Mass.) and Devin Flawd '10 (Lancaster, Pa.) rounded out scoring runners for the Nor'easters, who totaled 441 points.

Wayne Hooper of St. Vincent College (Pennsylvania) was the individual champion with a time of 26:14.  Host Williams was the team champ with a score of 45.
