Colby hands Nor'easters first swimming setback

WATERVILLE, Maine - Erin Schnettler '11 (Edina, Minn.) won a pair of events for Colby College, as the White Mules took a 147-112 win over the University of New England Nor'easters in a college swim meet Tuesday evening.

Colby evens its record at 1-1, while the Nor'easters (4-1) drop their first head-to-head meet.

Schnettler took individual honors in the 50-yard backstroke and the 100-yard backstroke.  The Mules were also bolstered by a 1-2-3 finish in the 400-yard medley relay.

Ali Wagner '09 (Monrovia, Calif.) had a brilliant night for the Nor'easters, winning three individual events.  She claimed victory in the 50-yard butterfly (29.17), 100-yard butterfly (1:03.95) and 400-yard individual medley (5:08.65).  Devan Gilman '11 (Rochester, N.H.) captured the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:48.92.

The Nor'easters are off until Dec. 1 when they host Colby-Sawyer College and Western New England College for a The Commonwealth Coast Conference tri-meet.
