NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Rivals Amherst College and Williams College waged a thrilling battle, but it was the Amherst Lord Jeffs who came out on top, earning a narrow one-point victory for the title at the NCAA III New England Regional Saturday morning.
UNE ended the day with 815 points to place 24th, just out of the top half of the 47-team field. #Matt Veiga# '11 (Lynn, Mass.) wrapped up a brilliant rookie season by placing 87th with a personal-best time of 26:26. #Josh Havelin# '11 (Seneca Falls, N.Y.), #Sam Powell# '08 (China, Maine), #Dan Kelleher# '11 (Norton, Mass.) and #Josh Grenier# '11 (Otisfield, Maine) rounded out the Nor'easters' scorers
Edgar Kosgey of Williams circled the 8,000-meter course in a time of 24:55 to take home first place.
