The swim team was impressive in its season-opener, gliding past Regis by the score of 191-67
BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Ali Wagner '09 (Monrovia, Calif.), Erica Johnson '09 (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and Anna Hecker '10 (Keene, N.H.) each won a pair of events, as the University of New England Nor'easters eased their way to 191-67 victory over Regis College in a college women's swim meet Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center.
The meet was a mutual season-opener for both teams, who will compete versus one another in two weeks at the Regis Invitational.
Wagner won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:04.82, then bested the field in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 59.14. She also was a part of two relay victories--the 200-yard medley and the 200-yard freestyle.
Johnson claimed victory in the 50-yard freestyle (26.68) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:28.52). She also swam the lead leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay team.
Hecker was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:12.95 and the 100-yard breaststroke with a finish of 1:18.62. She also found time to be part of UNE's two winning relay squads.
Lindsay Ranahan '11 (Hingham, Mass.) had a solid day for the Pride, winning the 50-yard backstroke (31.86) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.34).
The Nor'easters will host a meet versus UMass Dartmouth next Saturday at the Campus Center (1:00 p.m.). Regis travels to Babson Park, Mass. to take on Babson College Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
