Nor'easters Climb over .500 Mark with Sweep of St. Joe's

UNE extends its home winning streak to 14 matches

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- In non-conference volleyball action Thursday evening at the Campus Center, the University of New England improved its record to 11-10 with a 30-22, 30-19, 30-16 win over St. Joseph's College of Maine.

Winners of three straight and six of their last seven, UNE hiked over .500 for the first time, and in the process, captured its 14th consecutive decision at the Campus Center.  The Monks suffered their seventh straight setback to fall to 4-23.

Claire Varner '10 (Breckenridge, Mich.) led the way for the winners with match highs of eight kills and 16 digs.  Kristen Edwards '11 (Laconia, N.H.) chipped in with six kills and a pair of block assists.  Alissa Ehmke '08 (Baileys Harbor, Wisc.) handed out 15 assists to go with two service aces.

Mary Hoyt '11 (Rochester, N.H.) paced the Monks with six kills and 14 digs, while setter Monique Lajoie '10 (Nashua, N.H.) dished out 16 assists.  Brooke Perry '08 (Biddeford, Maine) recorded three aces for St. Joe's, which heads to Albertus Magnus College Saturday for a conference tri-match with Emmanuel College.

The Nor'easters will wrap up their regular-season schedule that same day with a The Commonwealth Coast Conference tri-match featuring host Endicott College and Roger Williams University.
