FARMINGTON, Maine -- Kristin Chambers '08 (Gorham, Maine) notched a hat trick to lead the University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team to a 4-2 victory over the University of New England on Tuesday.

The Beavers improved to 9-4 with the victory and are scheduled to visit Simmons College in North Atlantic Conference on Saturday for a noon game. The Nor'easters dropped to 4-9 and are slated to visit Anna Maria College on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest.

Chambers got the Beavers out to a 2-0 advantage over the first 14 minutes of the contest with one of the goals assisted by Nicole Lyons '08 (Cape Elizabeth, Maine). Alyssa St. Pierre (Jay, Maine) padded the lead by converting a Hattie Agnew (Guilford, Maine) feed at 16:15 for a 3-0 command for the hosts.

The Nor'easters trimmed the deficit to 3-1 before intermission with Jess Scott '10 (Poultney, Vt.) punching in a goal at 31:24.

Chambers completed her hat trick by knocking in a Rebecca Roy (Skowhegan, Maine) pass at 50:19 for a 4-1 lead. Scott added her second score at 53:50 to complete the scoring at 4-2.

Kaeleigh Barker (Chichester, N.H.) came away with eight stops for the Beavers, who held a 32-11 command in shots and an 18-5 advantage in penalty corners.

Ayla Nelson '11 (Auburn, Mass.) turned back 21shots on goal for the Nor'easters.
