BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England won the first game by the score of 30-1, and went on to an easy 3-0 victory over the University of Maine Farmington Beavers in a non-conference women's volleyball match Saturday morning at the Campus Center.
The Nor'easters (9-10) won the second game, 30-15, and the third, 30-8, to take the match in a crisp 50 minutes. UNE utilized its entire roster, with 10 players seeing action in two games or more.
Alex Toregas '08 (Chevy Chase, Md.) got Nor'easters going in game one, recording eight kills and three solo blocks. For the match she registered nine kills on just 10 attempts.
Kristen Edwards '11 (Laconia, N.H.) tied her season and career high with 11 kills. She hit a sparkling .667 (11-1-15) for the day. Angie Gust '11 (Manitowoc, Wisc.) chipped in seven kills.
Setter Alissa Ehmke '08 (Baileys Harbor, Wisc.) passed out 35 assists, and was a significant factor in UNE's season-high attack percentage of .425.
Also providing UNE with a strong performance was Josie Raphaelito '09 (Pine Hill, N.M.) with seven service aces.
Amy Boardman '11 (York, Maine) led the Beavers (9-11) with a match-high 12 digs. Meagan Dube '08 (Lewiston, Maine) led UMF's attack with four kills.
The Nor'easters return to action Tuesday evening (7:00 p.m.) when they host first-place Colby-Sawyer College in a key The Commonwealth Coast Conference clash.
UMaine Farmington is idle until next Saturday when it heads to Becker College for a tri-match. Start time is noon.
