Volleyball Team Improves to 6-1 in Conference Play

The Nor'easters took down Regis, 3-0, to inch closer to securing a first-round home playoff game

Toregas' double-double leads UNE to 3-0 win over Regis

WESTON, Mass. -- Alex Toregas '08 (Chevy Chase, Md.) had 12 kills and 12 total blocks, and the University of New England Nor'easters improved to 6-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference with a 30-14, 30-19, 30-24 victory over Regis College on Wednesday evening.

The win keeps the Nor'easters (8-10) alone in third place in the conference standings.  Regis falls to 6-14 overall, 1-4 in the TCCC.

Setter Alissa Ehmke '08 (Baileys Harbor, Wisc.) dished out 30 assists to get the attack going.  Angie Gust '11 (Manitowoc, Wisc.) took advantage of those sets to put down six balls.

Defensively, Ellen Choinski '10 (Saunderstown, R.I.) had 14 digs, while Claire Varner '10 (Breckenridge, Mich.) had an strong evening at the service line, going 29-for-30 with four service aces.

UNE hosts the University of Maine Farmington on Saturday for a non-conference match beginning at 11:00 a.m.
