In the Fall of 2005, the University of New England inducted its inaugural Hall of Fame class. The Hall of Fame is a vehicle with which to honor former student-athletes, coaches, administrators and supporters of St. Francis College, Westbrook College and the University of New England.
A nominee will be considered only if she/he meets the criteria listed below.
Student-Athletes:
-Nominees must be a graduate of St. Francis College, Westbrook College or the University of New England.
-The candidate shall be eligible to be nominated no earlier than five (5) years after her/his graduation from St. Francis College, Westbrook College or the University of New England.
-The candidate must have been a varsity team member of the sport for which she/he is being nominated.
-The candidate must have made a positive impact to the team(s) for which she/he played, including demonstrated athletic achievement, exemplary leadership qualities and character, and/or a significant contribution to the community.
-An honoree may be inducted posthumously.
Coach/Administrator:
-Nominees must have coached or been a staff member for at least ten (10) years at St. Francis College and University of New England or five (5) years at Westbrook College.
-The nominee shall have demonstrated an ability to enhance the athletic experience of the student-athlete, while serving as a positive role model through exemplary leadership and character.
Friends of Athletics:
-A nominee need not be a graduate or former employee of St. Francis College, Westbrook College or University of New England.
-Strong consideration will be given to those nominees who have enhanced the experience of student-athletes at St. Francis College, Westbrook College, or University of New England through their support.
-The candidate shall have volunteered their time, expertise or resources for a minimum of five (5) years.
Team Criteria:
-Nominees must be successful teams who have reached regional and national recognition.
-Teams must have had varsity status at the time they were in play.
-Teams will be considered after a minimum of years has elapsed from the last date of play for their nominated season.
To be approved for induction, the candidate must have a majority (at least 5 of 9) of the votes from the Selection Committee.
Any nominees not voted for induction into the Hall of Fame during the year of her/his nomination will remain in consideration for one additional year following their nomination. After that time period, the candidate must be re-nominated for consideration.
The Selection Committee will determine the number of inductees in the inaugural year. Following the first induction ceremony, no more than five individuals will be honored annually.
