L-R: McGrath, Derosier Pearson, and Graffam shared stories from their past to the crowd

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England held its annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Friday (Sep. 23), and honored its seventh class during the proceedings. The 2011 group included Danielle Derosier Pearson (UNE '96), James Graffam (former Westbrook College administrator/coach), James McGrath (SFC '66), and Frank Romeo (SFC '66). The event was the first of several that made up of Alumni Weekend.

Pearson (formerly Danielle Derosier) is the career scoring leader for the women's soccer program. In her four-year career spanning from 1993 through 1996, she totaled 56 goals, 43 assists, and 155 total points. Pearson helped lead the program to a school-record 19 wins in 1994 -- a season during which she tallied 15 goals and a school-record 22 assists.

Graffam helped build the Westbrook College athletics program from the ground up in the early 1990's before its merger with UNE in 1996. As the Wildcats' men's basketball coach, Graffam guided the program to nearly 150 victories in six seasons, including three consecutive Mayflower Conference championships leading to berths to the NAIA National Championship.

McGrath was a two-sport athlete for St. Francis during the 1960's, serving as a team captain for both the basketball and baseball teams. He was selected St. Francis College Senior Athlete of the Year in 1966. McGrath was one of the first St. Francis baseball players to play in the prestigious Cape Cod League.

Romeo, who was inducted posthumously, played soccer for St. Francis College from 1962-1966. Romeo was a repeat all-conference selection and played an integral role in the high level of success of the St. Francis men's soccer program during the early and middle 1960's.
