UNE inducts four into Athletics Hall of Fame

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Four former student-athletes were inducted into the University of New England Varsity Club Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday, Sep. 21 in a ceremony held in the St. Francis Room on the Biddeford Campus. John MacDonald (SFC '66), Tom Brazier (SFC '67), Sean O'Shea (UNE '94) and Missy Stults (UNE '04) comprised the University's eighth induction class, joining 19 other individuals, as well as five teams.

MacDonald was a four-year cross country runner and two-year captain for St. Francis. He ran undefeated for both the 1963 and 1964 seasons, and established course records at St. Francis, UMaine Portland and Gorham State. MacDonald served as a runner/coach for the 1965 season.

Brazier earned 11 varsity letters as a St. Francis student-athlete. He played four years of soccer and baseball, as well as three years of basketball. He was a key part of championship teams in both soccer (1965) and baseball (1966). Brazier earned soccer team MVP honors in 1967.

O'Shea's storied basketball career saw him score 2,028 points - which today ranks third on the program's all-time list. A two-year captain, he averaged 24 points per game as a senior and 20 per contest as a junior. In his senior season, O'Shea led UNE in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocked shots.

Stults is first all-time in women's basketball history in points scored (1,808) and second in rebounds (1,018). She was chosen Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Year in 2001, CCC Player of the Year in 2003, and CCC Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2004. Stults was a four-time all-conference selection.
