Avery Alberghini has been selected to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division III Softball
First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), as it was released on Tuesday (June 4).
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom.
Alberghini was recently honored with National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-America Second Team status on the diamond, capping one of the most accomplished seasons on-record for the Nor'easters. In 38 games, the unanimous Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Year posted 62 hits for a batting average of .534, scored 39 runs, went a perfect 41-for-41 in stolen bases, and notched a .681 slugging percentage. Behind the plate, she made just two errors in 234 chances on the year to end with a .991 fielding percentage. Alberghini finished the year ranked 5th in Division III batting average and 4th in stolen bases per game.
The Moretown, Vt. native graduated last month with a bachelor's degree in health, wellness, and occupational studies, along with a minor in art therapy. She has been a Dean's List student at UNE and a member of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Academic All-Conference Team, as well as an inductee into the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. Alberghini will continue her studies at UNE towards a master's degree in occupational therapy.
