CLERMONT, Fla. -- SUNY Geneseo scored in each of its four at-bats to log an 11-2 softball win (5 innings) over the University of New England on Monday morning (Mar. 12) in the Dot Richardson Spring Games hosted by the U.S. National Training Center.
Ashlyn Kersch registered the victory for the Knights (4-0), tossing eight strikeouts and conceding a pair of unearned runs. She helped herself out on offense, too, with a two-run homer in the 3rd and then a single and run scored in the 4th.
Taylor Fedor, Claire VanNewKirk, and Brooke Wolff all doubled to plate two more for Geneseo. Wolff's was part of a 3-for-3 effort, while Kersch's two hits and two runs scored were matched by Anna Merante. Danni Napoli had an RBI-double and touched home plate twice, as well.
For UNE, the first of two hits by
Sarah Lachapelle began the play that put the Nor'easters on the board (2-1) in the top of the 2nd inning.
Meg Harvey, who reached with a hit earlier in the frame, scored following an error in the outfield.
Lachapelle got the RBI with her single in the 4th, which cut the deficit to 6-2.
