Event Postcard

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England will host a pre-match cookout and reception for friends and neighbors of UNE, as well as the campus community, prior to the women's rugby match versus Harvard University on Saturday, Sept. 17.

The cookout, which will be held adjacent to the Campus Center on the Biddeford Campus, will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will be followed by a brief welcome and explanation of the rules of rugby by UNE head coach Ashley Potvin-Fulford. UNE President Danielle N. Ripich, Ph.D., and members of the UNE and Harvard squads will then hold a ceremonial scrum prior to the match, which is scheduled to start at noon.

The match will be the Nor'easters' first home contest in their inaugural season as a varsity program.

"The entire University of New England campus is thrilled to celebrate our inaugural varsity women's rugby game versus Harvard," commented UNE Vice President for Student Engagement and Director of Athletics Jack McDonald. "We hope all our students, staff, alumni and members of the local community will come out to cheer on our Nor'easters when the Crimson make their first ever visit to Nor'easter Nation in Biddeford."
