OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine -- The University of New England Athletics Department hosted a record total of 148 players and 37 teams at Dunegrass Golf Club today (June 3) for the 2016 Vaughn Twaddel Golf Classic, which is named in honor of the longtime Westbrook College professor and UNE golf coach.

The field of current faculty and staff, alumni, friends, and supporters of Nor'easter athletics participated in an 18-hole scramble before a meal and the presentation of the tournament and raffle prizes.

Low gross honors went to the team of Scott Lemelin '90, Chris King, Matt Brooks and Brandon Wohl, who fired a 14-under-par round of 58 to win by one stroke. The low net score of 52 was recorded by the team comprised of Anthony Ewing, Tristan Durgin '07, Glenn McCrum and Matthew Brown '13.
