Trevor Fleurent leads three with All-NEHC honors


MARSHFIELD, Mass. -- University of New England forward Trevor Fleurent has been named to the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) 2nd Team, one of three players recognized as the 2015-16 all-conference teams and major awards for men's ice hockey were announced Thursday (Feb. 18) by NEHC Commissioner Katie Boldvich.

After Fleurent, first-year goaltender Connor Maloney and first-year defenseman Tucker Ross landed spots on the All-Rookie Team.

The teams were compiled through voting conducted by the league's 10 head coaches.

Fleurent, a junior, leads UNE in goals (12) and points (27). He has six multiple-point games, including a three-goal, four-point performance in a non-league win over Bowdoin. Fleurent shared ninth in the conference ranks for goals scored (8) during the regular-season.

Maloney has split time between the pipes for the Nor'easters, posting a 3.17 goals against average and .905 save percentage to go 7-2-2 so far on the season. In conference action, he ranked third in winning percentage (.714, 4-1-2) and seventh in save percentage (.908).

Ross has been the top-scoring blue-liner on the squad, with five goals and eight assists to-date. In NEHC play, he was tied for fourth (8) in points by defensemen.

UNE is the fourth seed for the NEHC Championship and will host its first-ever tournament game on Saturday (7 p.m.) against New England College.
