BIDDEFORD, Maine --
Kayla Hamel '16 was the focus of a September 22, 2015 Sun Journal article about her rise from Lewiston High School soccer standout to tri-captain of the UNE women's soccer team.
Â
The article came on the heels of the Nor'easters' 2-0 win over Bates College. It explained how Hamel came from a high school program where she won just four games her senior year to a college program where she has seen a great deal more success. During her first three seasons, she had two goals and two assists. In seven starts this season she has already had a goal and an assist.
Â
"To go from a walk-on to a captain and a regular starter is a true testament to her work ethic and determination," UNE women's coach
Heather Davis told the newspaper.
