Presidents score four in 4th; edge UNE, 6-4

CLERMONT, Fla. -- Washington & Jefferson College (Pa.) plated four runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to take a 5-2 lead on the way to a 6-4 triumph over the University of New England on Sunday (Mar. 15) at the Dot Richardson Spring Softball Games hosted by the U.S. National Training Center.

Abby Cunningham had three hits and three runs scored to pace the Presidents (2-2), who got five strikeouts from starter Emily Watson and a three-out save in the 7th by Krista McCartney. Sadie Marak and Chalese Wilson each registered a pair of hits.

For the Nor'easters (1-2), Amanda Vallante had two hits. Adrienne Chase drove in three runs, including a couple on a two-out single in the top of the 5th that pulled UNE to within 5-4. Cat Ouellette accounted for half of the team's runs scored. Abby Lambert was charged with the loss, working 3 2/3 innings in circle.
