Anthony Ewing was one of Sunday's (Dec. 6) featured guests on 'Hoopsville,' the weekly
D3hoops.com online show dedicated to coverage of NCAA Division III basketball.
Ewing has the Nor'easters with their highest-ever national ranking at No.10 in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll (also No.16 in the
USA Today Sports Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll). Since the last release of the polls, Big Blue took a 55-43 road loss to No.3 Tufts before opening Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play with victories over Wentworth (82-37 at home) and Western New England (57-52 on the road) to take a 5-1 record into a two-week break. UNE will then head for Puerto Rico to face No.20/17 Wisconsin-Whitewater and Concordia (Wisc.) on December 20-21 prior to resuming CCC action in January.
UNE's ninth-year coach has guided the Nor'easters to unprecedented success since taking over in 2007, amassing a record of 178-54 (.767) on the bench. After a 13-13 mark during his initial campaign, Ewing's groups have logged seven consecutive 20-win seasons -- one of six Division III programs in the country with an active streak at least that long. UNE has made five appearances in the NCAA Division III Championship over the last six years
(2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015), four times by virtue of CCC titles.
This year's senior class only knows trips into the second round of the tournament (three straight), working on a 76-14 career ledger entering 2015-16.
It was Ewing's third appearance on the show, after February 2012 and February 2014.
