Box Score

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Emily Dumas notched her only hit of the day in the bottom of the 6th to drive in a pair and break a tied game, lifting the College at Brockport to a 5-3 victory over the University of New England on Saturday afternoon (Mar. 15) at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Softball Classic.

Brianna Harris paced the Golden Eagles (2-1) with three hits, 2 RBI, and a run scored. Gabrielle Rivers, Sarah Rosenbarker, and Andrea Schell added two hits apiece, and Rivers scored twice.

Kory Kibling struck out seven and did not allow an earned run to get the win for Brockport, while giving up eight hits and three free passes.

For the Nor'easters (0-1), sophomore Amanda Vallante and junior Adrienne Chase each tallied two hits. Sophomore pitcher Abby Lambert took the decision in the circle, striking out three and walking one.

A lead-off single in the 3rd by Harris eventually became the first run of the contest, when Susanna Johnson slotted one up the middle.

The Golden Eagles extended the gap to 3-0 in the 4th, when Harris singled to center to drive in Brianna Ferchen and Rivers.

UNE capitalized on two errors in the 6th, however, evening the score at 3-3. Sophomore Kelly Murphy had a one-out single and scored in the inning, before senior Jessica Potter and first-year Sydney Helmbrecht also managed to cross the plate safely.

Dumas got the lead right back for Brockport, and Kibling escaped the 7th with two swinging strikeouts after allowing a one-out double to Chase followed by a walk.
