DANBURY, Conn. -- University of New England field hockey player
Beth Sullivan has been named as an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England All-Star on the 1st Team, as it was released on Thursday (Dec. 18).
Sullivan's list of honors in 2014 already included a spot on the NFHCA Division III All-America third team, a first team NFHCA All-Region selection, and a repeat distinction as Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Defensive Player of the Year to go with a first team All-CCC nod.
As UNE went 11-1 during CCC play, SullivanÂ
anchored a back line that allowed opponents to exceed five shots-on-goal just three times over 12 league games, and recorded six shutouts.
Overall, the senior's role in the Big Blue offensive penalty corners resulted in nine goals and three assists for 21 points -- tied for fourth on the team. Sullivan converted one of four penalty strokes on the year in double overtime of the CCC Championship match against Endicott, which secured a second CCC title for the Nor'easters. For the complete release of the ECAC Division III New England All-Stars and major award recipients, clickÂ
