BIDDEFORD, Maine -- University of New England senior Lindsey Monaco today (Dec. 15) was named a New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) First Team All-New England selection.

Monaco, the Nor'easters' center back, earned the most votes of any defender in consideration for NEWISA post-season honors. Over the past month-and-a-half, she has been chosen First Team All-Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), as well as Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Defensive Player of the Year and Co-Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Monaco anchored a UNE defensive unit that surrendered just 14 goals over 20 games and posted 11 shutouts. She also ranked fourth on the squad in points with 10, coming on two goals and six assists.
