ResultsWESTFIELD, Mass. -- The University of New England women's cross country team wrote another chapter in the most successful season in program history, placing second at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship hosted by Westfield State University at Stanley Park on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 8).
The Nor'easters posted an aggregate score of 60 to finish just behind Williams College, which captured the title with a total of 48. Middlebury College (85), Tufts University (109) and Trinity College (178) rounded out the Top 5.
Tiana Thomas narrowly missed being the individual champion, clocking a six-kilometer time of 22:15.63 to finish less than a half-second behind winner Rebecca Delacruz-Gunderson of Williams.
Brittney Sorbello finished just behind Thomas in third place with a time of 22:18, while
Lexie Basiliere (6th, 22:23) and
Angel Waters (9th, 22:40) joined Thomas and Sorbello as all-ECAC honorees.
Taxia Arabatzis was UNE's other scoring runner, placing 40th with a time of 23:43.
Annelise Donahue (76th, 24:31) and
Amanda MacDonald (97th, 24:53) also competed for Big Blue.
The Nor'easters will conclude their season next Saturday at the NCAA III New England Regional in Williamstown, Mass.
