McParland is a Capital One Academic All-American ®


AUSTIN, Texas -- University of New England's Aidan McParland has been selected to the Capital One Academic First Team All-America ® Division III Men's Soccer Team, as announced Friday (Nov. 21) by Capital One and the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

McParland, a senior goalkeeper from Brockville, Ontario, is a medical biology major and Dean's List student. Among his numerous academic achievements, McParland is a research assistant at the Ganter Institute Neurogenetics Lab, has received three grants for his research work, and is founder and president of UNE's Genetics Society. He is also a student trustee on the UNE Board of Trustees.

On the soccer field for the Nor'easters in 2014, McParland started 17 of 18 games and recorded a a 0.91 goals against average with six shutouts. He was voted Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Defensive Player of the Year while earning first team all-conference accolades for the third consecutive season. McParland concluded his career with 15 shutouts and a 1.23 goals against average.
