SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The University of New England women's basketball team is a unanimous pick to win the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), according to the head coaches in the CCC pre-season poll released this morning (Nov. 14).
The Nor'easters, who claimed all 10 first-place votes for a total 100 points, are followed by Roger Williams University (82) and Endicott College (80). Roger Williams lost to UNE in last season's CCC Championship title game.
UNE is ranked No. 16 in the
USA Today Sports Division III Preseason Top 25 Coaches Poll and No. 20 in the D3hoops.com Preseason Top 25 Poll. The Nor'easters welcome back all five starters and a total of 12 returning players from a squad that set a program-record for wins during a 27-3 season. UNE's 2013-14 campaign featured a second straight CCC title and a repeat appearance in the Second Round of the NCAA Division III Championship.
