BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England softball team is set to begin its 2012 season in Florida against Ohio Wesleyan, as part of a 10-game Spring Break trip that starts on March 17.

UNE also plays St. Olaf (Minn.) on opening day of the week-long trip, which includes games with the likes of Worcester State, UMass Dartmouth, Wisconson-Oshkosh, Hendrix (Ark.), Amherst, and Smith.

Upon returning to New England, the Nor'easters face new opponent Husson and Saint Joseph's (Maine) in other non-conference matchups. Along with Worcester State, and defening conference champion Endicott, all four participated in last year's NCAA Championship.

Big Blue commences Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on March 27 against Gordon -- the first of nine league doubleheaders. Despite the changes in the composition of the league, down from 13 competing institutions to 10, the CCC tournament format remains the same and begins on April 28 with first round play-in games for playoff seeds 5-8.
