CHICOPEE, Mass. -- Senior Jess Partlow (Hopkinton, Mass.) topped a field of 141 competitors to help lead the University of New England women's cross country team to a second-place showing at the Blazer Invitational hosted by Elms College on Saturday morning.

Partlow cruised to an 18-second victory, completing the five-kilometer course in a time of 19:31 for UNE (35 points), which was nipped by Salve Regina University (31).

Sophomore Colleen Ahern (Salem, Conn.) posted a time of 20:01 to finish third, and first-year Erin Flatley (Windham, Maine) contributed a Top-10 performance (20:21), as did first-year Natalie Hardman (Kalona, Iowa) who posted 20:36. Senior Heather Pederson (Woolwich, Maine) rounded out the scoring runners, placing 15th with a time of 20:57.

UNE resumes action in a week when it will participate in the Pop Crowell Invitational on the campus of Gordon College.
