SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- University of New England women's lacrosse player Angel Jarmusz (Powell, Ohio) has been recognized The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year, in voting conducted by the league's 12 coaches. TCCC Commissioner Gregg Kaye made the announcement of the major award winners and all-conference team this afternoon.

In addition, senior Danielle Cate (Boscawen, N.H.) and first-year Hannah Tavella (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) received nods as all-TCCC honorable mention.

Jarmusz holds a 3.89 grade point average as a sport management major and business administration minor, and is set to attend law school beginning in the fall. She is a member of the TCCC Academic All-Conference Team, has been a Dean's List student each semester, and is a member of both the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society and the Alpha Chi Honor Society. On the field, the starting midfielder in all 17 games for the Nor'easters tallied nine goals and three assists on the season, and collected 18 draw controls.

A first team selection in 2010, Cate ranked second on the team in scoring with 47 points (34 goals, 13 assists). The attacker led the squad in free-position goals during the year, and registered the team's single-game high of five markers against Salve Regina. She graduates with the second-highest goal (119) and points (154) totals in program history, and Cate also boasts the school's single-game goal mark (9).

Tavella paced Big Blue throughout the season, finishing with 41 goals and 10 assists. In 10 of 17 contests, she scored at least three times, and reached UNE's single-game high for points (8) with a four-goal, four-assist effort against Regis. Among the TCCC ranks, Tavella ended up second in rookie scoring (39 points).
