WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. -- The University of New England women's swimming team is competing at the 2011 New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships Friday through Sunday at the Upper Valley Aquatics Center. UNE Women's Swimming: 7th of 21 teams (570 points)

All-New England performances (top 8):
Jessica Sweeney - 4th in the 1650 freestyle
Sara Shea - 7th in the 200 breaststroke
Alex Gabriels - 8th in the 100 individual medley

Notable finishes:
Gabriels, Rachel Hanley, Meaghan Arsenault, Lizzie Wareham - 7th - 400 freestyle relay

Additionally, Zach Wagner (200 breast) and Roger Hart (200 fly), both members of the men's club team, posted new team records.


Sunday Prelims -- Updated 2/20 3:30 p.m.

New School Records:
Jessica Sweeney in the 1650 freestyle (18:34.18), passing Alison Leopard's 19:21.87 set back at the 2009 NEISDA Championships. In the same event, Sweeney's 1000 split (11:13.78) bested Leopard's previous team-best time of 11:20.88 set at the 2009 NEISDA Championships.

Lizzie Wareham during the first leg of the 400 freestyle relay (54.43), topping her own mark of 54.60 in the 100 freestyle set last year at the NEISDA Championships.

New School Record:
Wareham in the 50 butterfly (26.31), eclipsing her own mark of 26.91 that she posted Saturday morning at the NEISDA Championships.

Notable finishes:
Meaghan Arsenault, Briana Hirst, Wareham, Rachel Hanley - 8th - 200 medley relay
Wareham, Shea, Alexa Cheney, Jessica Sweeney - 9th - 800 freestyle relay

Additionally, men's club team member Roger Hart broke another program record (50 fly).

Lizzie Wareham in the 50 butterfly (26.91), breaking her previous record of 28.02 that she set back on December 13, 2008.

Sara Shea in the 400 individual medley (4:59.22), surpassing her own record of 5:01.41 that she established on November 25, 2008.

Wareham in the 100 butterfly (58.91), passing the mark of 59.55 that she set Friday morning at the NEISDA Championships.

Wareham in the 50 freestyle (24.23), breaking her own team-best time of 24.48 posted last year at the NEISDA Championships.
