BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England formally dedicated its Campus Center gymansium as the James A. Beaudry Gymnasium this past Saturday (Dec. 3) in conjunction with a basketball doubleheader versus Salve Regina University.
Beaudry served as Director of Athletics at St. Francis College and the University of New England for 21 years. During his tenure, Beaudry coached five different sports and was an associate professor. His leadership was paramount to the success enjoyed by the St. Francis teams of the 1960's and 1970's.
The dediciation ceremony continues a long line of honors and accolades bestowed upon Beaudry. In 2001, he was named an honorary alumnus, and in 2005 Beaudry was the institution's charter inductee into UNE's Athletics Hall of Fame. He has also been enshrined into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame and the Maine Sports Legends.
A familiar face to those on-campus today, Beaudry still exercises regularly at the University and is frequently in attendance at a variety of UNE's athletics events.
