BIDDEFORD, Maine -- With the start of the season less than a week away, the construction of the new synthetic turf field at the University of New England is drawing to a close.

The scoreboard is in position and bleacher seating and the press box are slated for completion the first week of September.

The facility, which will include bleacher seating for 552 spectators, competition lighting, a press box and state-of-the-art scoreboard, will be used by the Nor'easters' field hockey and lacrosse teams, as well as the soccer programs in the case of inclement weather. In addition, the University's growing intramural and recreation program will utilize the facility.
